You win $1 million for a hole in one. You don’t walk to this tee, you take a helicopter.
This is the Extreme 19th, the longest and toughest par-three in the world, and it’s fittingly located at Legend Golf & Safari Resort in South Africa.
Bernhard Langer, two-time Masters Champion and the first player to be ranked world number one in the OWGR (Official World Golf Rankings), is one of the big names to tackle the 400m high par three.
Teeing off at the highest point of Hanglip mountain, Langer stared down over the Waterberg area of Limpopo – where the Big Five roam free – and sized up the tiny green below him.
The German made a bogey four at the hole.
Local spotters help to find the balls when they land and the latest radar tracking devices on the tee are used to monitor the ball’s flight.

Langer was visiting the resort to make the final changes to the par three fourth hole he designed on the Legend Golf & Safari resort Signature Course.

Each of the 18 holes was designed by one of the world’s top players and Langer’s visit followed similar trips by the likes of three-time Major winner Padraig Harrington, Spanish superstar Sergio Garcia, Korean KJ Choi, South African legend Retief Goosen and former European number one Justin Rose.
