Costa Navarino opens second course in Greece

Greece has been hitting the headlines recently for its financial collapse and the need for European neighbors to bail out its ailing economy.

The country’s economic troubles have not prevented the owners of the Costa Navarino golf resort from announcing the opening of its second signature course.

The Bay Course, in Messinia in the southwest Pelopennese, opened for play at the beginning of October and was been designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. It joins the Bernhard Langer designed Dunes Course, creating a luxury golf destination that virtually enjoys year round sunshine and playable conditions.

The par 71 Bay Course overlooks the historic bay of Navarino and the town of Pylos, and is serviced by two 5-star Starwood-managed hotels, The Romanos and The Westin Resorts.

The course dramatically runs along the Bay of Navarino combining great ocean views with proximity to the water and the opportunity to enjoy breathtaking sunsets. The rest of the layout runs through a dramatic canyon and olive groves dating back centuries.

The course measures 5,760 metres from the back tee and visiting golfers have a choice of four tee positions to play from. The Bay Course is close to Europe’s first all-pool villa resort at Navarino Bay.
